In this project we did printmaking. I chose to make a dog holding a stick in its mouth, while a cat is trying to hit the bulb that is hanging on the stick. I decided to do this because of the holidays and it reminded me of my dog and cat. I really enjoyed this project! It was probably my favorite one. I like how my final piece turned out.
The process of making this print was not as hard as I thought. It was very satisfying to take the matrix out. Also to see that you were actually making an image. The hardest part for me was making the ink show up on the paper. When I rolled the ink out onto the matrix, I got ink all over myself which was a pretty big struggle to not get it everywhere. Also when I was putting my pieces onto my white paper the ink was still wet, I was nervous about smearing the ink. Another struggle I had was having people see what it was at first glance. First I scraped out the background then moved onto the border, the dog, stick, and lastly the cat. Next, when I was partly satisfied I did a test print. Whatever I didn’t like, I fixed and did another one. When I was completely satisfied I started on the final piece. I would definitely want to do printmaking again. |
