I chose to do wildfires for the issue I stand for. People are not considerate enough with our earth. Some things people can do are making sure their cigarette are completely out, being extremely careful with burning yard waste, and don't burn in windy condition. Also on hikes and other things to just remember to put out the fires you start. The earth is our only place and we need to be kind to it. Trees are our everything and if we keep having forest fires, there will be nothing left.
First I started with digging out the tree trunk, did a couple of test runs, carved some more, and did my final piece. I didn't use normal ink because I wanted to capture the color of a very green alive tree, a burning red and orange tree, and then a dead brown tree. Some difficulties I had with the acrylic paint is it dried too quickly on the paper. It would rip the paper when I took the matrix off. I then decided to use a more shiny paper so it wouldn't get stuck to the matrix. The next problem I had was the roller you would normally use with the ink wouldn't roll with the acrylic, so I used a big paint brush and lightly brushed it across. After I got all three trees done, I then put real pictures of a lively forest, burning forest, and a dead forest. Things that went right for me were using the shiny paper and the colors. |
